Biography
Anaïs Zhang was born in Zhuhai, China, in 1973. She studied at the Guangzhou Fine Art Academy where she obtained a Master degree in Oil Painting in 1999.
Her sources of inspirations run from the memories of the landscapes and faces she has witnessed during her worldwide travels, in particular to the Basque Country in France, the grasslands in the Midwest, the snow mountains in Tibet, the narrow streets of Macau, and so on…
She also focuses on a series called La Belle Epoque which consists of paintings based on photographs taken by her great-grandfather-in-law, a Frenchman called Paul Verdun, who was a pioneer photographer in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
Over the years, Anaïs Zhang has joined numerous art exhibitions in Europe and Asia.
