Artist Statement

I was born in 1973 in southern China and I currently live in Biarritz.
At the age of 12, I was deeply moved by a book about Van Gogh—his works, of course, but also his free and passionate life. That was the moment I knew my calling was to paint.
I studied for seven years at the Fine Arts Academy of Guangzhou, seven fabulous years during which we were sheltered from the outside world and able to devote ourselves entirely to our art.
In my imaginary museum, you would find View of Toledo by El Greco for its fascinating distortions, Turner’s Rain, Steam and Speed for its vapor effects, Matisse’s Red Studio for its lightness and elegance, Andy Warhol for his modernity, and David Hockney, a pioneer of digital art.
My works are figurative and tell stories. Many things inspire me: a landscape, a face, but also a photo found online. I recently discovered digital painting, which allows me to execute my visions more quickly.
For me, art does not deliver a message. Art is, has been, and will be. And while artworks belong to a specific moment in time, Art itself belongs to Eternity.
